sergio a. fernandez

the work of sergio a. fernandez explores the seemingly unremarkable spaces created by institutions that appear sterile, and seem to have no specific function or geographic location, as they exist without intervention.

the glow of fluorescent lights and the poor acoustics of drywall are present in institutional buildings across the world, turning them into spatial vacuums that defy traditional notions of purpose and placement; once inside an office building, the weather is always pleasant and the landscape remains painfully similar: 68° to 72° degrees fahrenheit, industrial carpeting, beige technology and artificial plants (with the occasional fichus tree).
even the activities have been equalized: spaces remain the same, only software changes.
